Job Description

This position is remote and can be based anywhere nationawide.The Director reports to the  Vice President of Government Services.



Allied Universal is currently seeking a Director of Government Services to expand and enhance current or high potential ideal government prospects and clients with complex buying processes.  The Director will be the subject matter specialist with expertise within government security and will lead, assist VP Sales and BDM efforts to expand governmental business through local field engagement, enterprise-level internal and external messaging and sales process oversight. The Director will also play a critical role assisting the operations team with continued satisfaction and retention of accounts throughout the government vertical. This position can be a remote with up to 50% travel requirements.


Primary responsibilities include:

  • Drive growth and expansion across multiple regions for named government prospects and clients, forming a consultative relationship that results in maximized sales growth, profitability, customer satisfaction, and market share for Allied Universal
  • Engage and coordinate opportunity identification and account relationship expansion management.
  • Work with VP Vertical Markets to develop strategic and tactical action plans for each targeted client or new prospect in assigned territory, identifying strategy and tactics for growing each account
  • Customize service delivery solutions with service operations team, based on deep insight into client’s business needs, wants and desires to address their significant issues and opportunities, differentiating Allied Universal
  • Work in a coordinated matrix fashion, orchestrating sales activities and prospect relationships with VP Sales, VP Vertical Markets, and BDMS across regions to consistently communicate and implement Allied Universal sales strategies for the Government Vertical
  • Collaborate and lead government buying/service relationships with the local market Branch Managers, RVP’s and Regional Presidents
  • Sales Growth Goals are based on new site sales growth of targeted government clients and prospects
  • Develop relationships with executive and key decision makers at all levels of the institution or school, while orchestrating various opportunities with the VP Sales and BDMs
  • Ensure all sales performance and client activity standards are delivered, improving sales effectiveness and results
  • Oversee and direct sales processes to enhance the quality and quantity of accounts acquired by providing guidance and accountability for quality winning proposals
  • Manage the metrics and sales effectiveness ratios to drive a bigger, more robust pipeline
  • Review bid specifications, contracts and pricing; assists in resolving related problems, interpretation of specifications, etc.
  • Establish and maintain ongoing pipeline of prospective government qualified clients/prospects with an annual review coordinated with Service Operations and Sales Teams
  • Assist on all proposals assigned to guide and ensure that the proposal has properly and accurately respond to the RFI or RFP and SOW.
  • Play a critical role in the overall success of the Government Vertical through a consistent focus on key longer sales-cycle:
    • Establish strong relationships with key Allied Universal personnel
    • Portfolio management of Government clients as assigned





The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree plus at least 5 years of experience operating within the Governmental market, security industry experience is preferred by not required.  Operational experience in the security services industry at the management level is preferred.  We also seek the following: 

  • General management level business acumen and skills
  • Proven, demonstrated success with the Government market
  • Proven consultative selling skills, completion of formal sales training is a plus
  • High level, financial understanding pricing and financial models is a plus
  • Exceptional ability to collaborate with high-level executives in both the client/prospect organization and within Allied Universal
  • Self-starter with strong ability to “get things done” internally and externally through personal influence (v. direct authority)
  • Excellent oral communication and writing skills (including the ability to compose persuasive value proposition & proposals)
  • Able to apply appropriate judgment and risk analysis to business decisions
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment, creating excitement and engagement with Business Development and field operations to grow the business and solve problems
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully utilize CRM software to manage activities, record important data and report account status updates
